You have invested in beautiful UV lash extensions and now it is the time to make them last.

Although UV lash technology offers exceptional retention, your daily habits still play a huge role in how long your lashes stay looking full and fresh. With the right aftercare, you will enjoy better retention, healthier natural lashes and fewer appointments for repairs.

Here are our top aftercare tips to help you get the most from your UV lash extensions.

1. Clean Your Lashes Every Day

One of the biggest myths is that washing your lash extensions will make them fall out.

In fact, the opposite is true.

Your lashes collect natural oils, makeup, SPF, dead skin cells and dust every day. If these aren’t removed, they build up around the lash line and can weaken the bond between your natural lash and the extension over time.

Use a gentle lash cleanser and a soft cleansing brush to clean your lashes daily, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

2. Brush Your Lashes Every Morning

Brushing your lashes takes less than 30 seconds but makes a noticeable difference.

A clean spoolie helps separate the lashes, keeps them sitting neatly and prevents them from crossing over each other as they grow.

Always brush gently from the middle of the lashes towards the tips—never force the brush through the base.

3. Avoid Pulling or Picking

It can be tempting to remove a loose extension yourself, but pulling at your lashes can remove your natural lash before it’s ready to shed.

This may create gaps and, over time, can affect the health of your natural lashes.

If you’re ready for a change, always book a professional removal.

4. Be Careful with Oil-Based Products

UV lash extensions are known for their excellent retention, but that doesn’t mean they’re completely maintenance-free.

Heavy oil-based creams, cleansing balms and makeup removers used around the eyes can still affect retention if they build up along the lash line.

Where possible, choose lash-safe, oil-free products around the eye area.

5. Sleep Smart

The way you sleep can affect your lash extensions more than you realise.

Sleeping face-down or pressing your lashes into your pillow every night can cause them to twist, bend or shed more quickly.

If possible, try sleeping on your back or side and consider using a silk pillowcase to reduce friction.

6. Skip the Mascara

One of the benefits of lash extensions is that you shouldn’t need mascara and avoid liquid eyeliners.

Waterproof formulas in particular can be difficult to remove and often require rubbing or oil-based removers, both of which can reduce the lifespan of your extensions.

If you feel you need darker lashes, speak to your lash artist instead of reaching for mascara.

7. Book Your Infills on Time

Even with perfect aftercare, your natural lashes shed every day as part of their normal growth cycle.

Most clients benefit from infills every 2–3 weeks to maintain a full, balanced look.

Waiting too long between appointments usually means more extensions have shed, often requiring a new full set instead of an infill.

8. Listen to Your Lash Artist

Every client is different.

Your lashes will not be the same each month and retention will vary. Choosing also the right size of extensions based on your natural extension can extend their retention.
